  • Concentration and Attention.Specially good for kids with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In order to perform and follow the class, children learn to listen and follow direction from Sensei and/or the Sempai. Karate practice requires a great deal of concentration and children quickly develop this skill.

  • Self-Control. Sometimes children want to do other than what is required from them; at the Dojo, children eventually learn to control those urges, join the class, and follow instructions.
  • Learn to set and achieve goals. The goal of obtaining the next belt is particularly important for children. Parents and relatives usually come to the testing and children take pride in showing their skills in Karate. They will learn to work for that goal and the result will give them a good feeling about themselves.
  • Learn Leadership. As children advance in Karate ranking, they will be encourage to help beginners and to teach them what they know. At some point, they could teach an entire group some basic techniques or exercises with guidance. 
  • Gross Motor Skills Development. Karate is a system that uses punches, kicks, and blocks. It's quick, sharp, relaxing and tensing of the muscles; it also involves snapping movements of the joints. Children learn to balance and use right posture. Coordination of movements and muscle memory.
